Stephen Hawking and God

Professor Hawking presupposes that God exists within time if He exists at all, rather than considering that God exists outside of time itself.

Ironically after dismissing the idea of God Professor Hawking still considers the universe in the form of a design.

Interestingly the older interview presents Professor Hawking refer to God as existing, although in the context of a clockmaker, and leans against the notion of miracles. Did he bow to the premise of God's existence as a polite concession for the sake of interviews or did he come to atheism from that point?
