AOL making a large profit off an unneccessary service

AOL likely marketed itself as a future company and it is still technically a telecom company albeit with almost none of the awesome stuff that the connotations imply.

You see, AOL still makes a good deal of money from the sale of slowspeed dial-up internet services.  That technology is available for free.  More convenient technology is available for a similar price.
