the USA PATRIOT Act

The USA PATRIOT Act aka H.R. 3108 The USA PATRIOT Act aka H.R. 3108

Government websites stink. They're difficult to navigate. Took me hours to find this in the raw.

not totally invasive

An article in the Washington Post reports that one clause in the Patriot Act has not been used. It's a library clause. At least on librarian seems unncessarily sanctimonious:
Emily Sheketoff, executive director of (the American Library Association)'s Washington office, said Ashcroft's decision "is a big win for librarians and a bigger win for the American public. He's being forced to give out information that he doesn't want to give out."

Lovely. It's so wonderful one of the people whose job includes keep secrets isn't keeping one. What a ridiculous sentiment.
